What Pastor Nate Is Thankful For

We hosted our first ever Thanksgiving with our family about 5 years ago. We were all really excited that our family was coming over and we were going to celebrate Thanksgiving together. My wife, Rachelle, had never cooked a turkey, and we were so crazy busy that we didn’t have time to make a practice one to see how it would go 🙂

So…my family arrives and there are 20 of us all together. Everyone is hungry and can’t wait for the big dinner. About an hour before the meal is going to be served one of Rachelle’s good friends calls her. She asks, “Did your turkey come out ok? If so, great! If not, I baked one for you and can bring it over!” What a great friend! She prepared a backup just in case things didn’t go as planned. This friend is one of hundreds at the Village who are like family to us. Always there, always serving, always there to celebrate a win or come alongside when things don’t go as planned.

I feel like Paul when he wrote these words in Philippians 1:3-5

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.

This time of year I like to reflect on what I’m thankful for. There are many things that make that list, but one thing’s for sure –   I am the luckiest Pastor in the world to serve alongside all of  you! You are my family, and I’m thankful for you! I’m thankful that we have such a great church family that is ready to step up to do what needs to be done! I’m thankful that we have such a great church family that celebrates the wins, but is also there when things don’t go as planned. I thank my God every time I remember you!

In case you’re wondering, Rachelle’s turkey turned out perfect! Happy Thanksgiving!
