Christmas is coming! It’s a time of year that brings joy and celebration but also may include feelings of dread. You may need to figure out Christmas lists, who you need to buy for, and what your budget will be. This blog will present a way you can shop with a purpose and find Christmas gifts that help orphans and have a positive impact on our world.

I am honored to serve on the board of an amazing organization, Heart for Africa, one of the Reclaim3d mission partners. Its mission is caring for more than 270 and counting orphans. This organization provides self – sustainable homes for orphans in Eswatini, Africa so they can survive and thrive. It’s all about making sure these children have quality care, shelter, food, water, clothing, healthcare, and education. It’s about providing hope, love, and a future. The stories of the kids are heartbreaking at the beginning, then remarkable as they grow up.

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk, but in deed and truth.

1 John 3:17

In late October, Project Canaan, the name of the 2,500 acre Heart for Africa property, received their 273rd child. The mother had the baby and then placed the newborn in a plastic bag and threw it into an outdoor bathroom facility. Fortunately, someone came to use the facility and saw the bag moving. They picked up a stick and retrieved the bag to find a baby. They took the baby to the hospital. The newborn received medical treatment and he was then delivered to Heart for Africa.

A heartbreaking story at the beginning of life, but trust me, a remarkable future awaits this young child. All of these children are raised in a loving environment, with a world-class education and world-class care. Sadly, this story and the other 272 stories are so difficult. Yet, God is good and he provides a way for these wonderful children.

Over the last 5 years, our church has sold ornaments made by Heart for Africa Khutsala Artisans to raise funds to help these kids. This year, we are sharing an amazing website where you can purchase ornaments, a nativity, tabletop displays, and other items for Christmas gifts. We call it “Shop with a Purpose”. All profits will go to the Heart for Africa organization to provide, housing, food, education, and medical treatment for their growing number of orphans.

Please consider shopping with a purpose and helping little ones this year!
