This Is How I Fight My Battles

When the battles come (and they will) try singing.

Life is full of battles. When life gets difficult, how do you respond?

I read a unique verse today that struck me.  In 2 Chronicles 20:20-21 there was a King named Jehoshaphat (fun name) who was about to go to battle. He instructed his people in verse 20,

“Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld.”

This makes sense and was something that happened all the time. When you face the battles, have faith.

But v. 21 was one that threw me…

“After consulting with the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they WENT OUT AHEAD OF THE ARMY.”

So picture a great praise band leading the army into battles. Seems a little silly right?

Maybe it’s not such a bad idea.

When faced with the battles of life – the challenges of marriage, kids, job, relationships, sickness, business, financial stress and so on, it can be overwhelming and feel like a battle.

Can I tell you a secret? I love to sing. My mom always wanted me to and as a kid I refused, but in the car, you will find me singing most of the time.

When faced with a difficult situation (battle), here are the songs I go to very often to let God go before to fight my battles. They might be helpful to you…

Surrounded (Michael W. Smith)

I Raise A Hallelujah (Bethel)

Won’t Stop Now (Elevation)

Roll the windows down, crank up the music, and let God lead you into the battles with Worship.

Maybe you have some that you enjoy, feel free to share as well.
