It’s easy to say “God is good” when life is going well, when things fall into place, prayers are answered, and the future feels clear. But what about when life feels unknown, unfamiliar, or unfair? What about the times when nothing makes sense?

We’ve all had seasons like that. Maybe you’re in one right now. The good news is that God’s goodness doesn’t depend on our circumstances. He’s the same faithful, loving God in the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

When Life Feels Unknown

There are moments when we can’t see what’s ahead—a diagnosis, a decision, a next step that feels unclear. In those moments, God invites us to trust Him even when we don’t understand.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Even when we don’t know the outcome, we can trust the One who does. He’s writing a story that’s still unfolding, one filled with His purpose and goodness.

When Life Feels Unfamiliar

Change can be uncomfortable—new seasons, new routines, new challenges. The unfamiliar can stretch our faith, but it also draws us closer to God.

Psalm 23:4 says,
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”

No matter where life takes us, God’s presence goes with us. He’s steady when life feels uncertain.

When Life Feels Unfair

Sometimes things happen that just don’t seem right. We face hurt, disappointment, and loss. But even in those moments, God’s goodness doesn’t disappear. The cross itself was the most unfair act in history, yet it became the greatest act of love the world has ever known.

God takes what’s broken and brings beauty from it. He brings hope out of hardship and light out of the darkest moments.

We Can Still Trust His Goodness

Even when life doesn’t make sense, we can still say: God is good.

Not because everything around us is good, but because He is good. He is near. He is faithful. He is working all things together for His glory and our good.

So whatever season you’re in, unknown, unfamiliar, or unfair, hold on to this truth:
God’s goodness never changes.
