The Village was excited to announce the official launch of its newest campus at the Sheridan Correctional Facility on Saturday, November 8, 2025. This marks a significant step forward in the church’s goal to reach people with the hope of Jesus—wherever they are.
Each week, about ten volunteers from The Village serve inside the facility, ministering to men who are currently in custody. Through worship, teaching, and genuine connection, the goal is to create a space where lives can be transformed by God’s grace.
“We believe that no one is beyond the reach of God’s love. By launching a campus inside Sheridan Correctional Facility, we’re living out our mission to reach people who are far from God and help them become devoted followers of Jesus.” – Nate Ferguson
The new campus offers weekly services on Saturday mornings, Bible studies, and discipleship opportunities designed to help those incarcerated grow in faith and find hope for the future. The Village currently has campuses in Minooka, Coal City, Shorewood, and Seneca, as well as an Online campus that reaches people across the country. The addition of the Sheridan Correctional Facility Campus extends the church’s impact to an entirely new community, reinforcing its vision to make an eternal difference locally, regionally and globally. Here is what one of the attenders of the Sheridan Campus had to say:
“I truly appreciate all that The Village Christian Church has been doing for Sheridan, blessing us with the services God has granted them to share with the world and with us here as well. I want to take the reins back in my life so I can learn to love myself more and be there for my son and my family.
I’ve been out of touch with reality for a long time, and I feel as though I ignored the moments when the Lord was trying to speak to me. His presence feels unfamiliar and uncertain to me now. I appreciate each and every one of you for the work you do, and I will be praying for the entire Village. Thank you!” -Daniel, Inmate at the Sheridan Correctional Facility
