We all face moments in life that seem impossible.
A relationship feels broken beyond repair. Anxiety keeps creeping in no matter how hard you try to fight it. Financial stress feels overwhelming. A diagnosis changes everything. Your biggest dream feels out of reach. A struggle with sin seems impossible to overcome.
The walls in front of us can feel just as intimidating as the walls of Jericho did for Joshua and the Israelites.
But before the battle even began, God spoke these powerful words to Joshua:
“But the Lord said to Joshua, ‘I have given you Jericho, its king, and all its strong warriors.’” — Joshua 6:2
Did you catch that? God spoke victory before Joshua ever saw the walls fall. Joshua still had to trust. He still had to obey. He still had to walk around the city day after day even when it probably didn’t make sense. But God was already working on the impossible.
The same is true for us today.
Sometimes the obstacle in front of you is exactly where God wants to show up the most. The place that feels hopeless may become the place where God’s power, faithfulness, and goodness are revealed in the biggest way.
So how do we attack the impossible things in our lives?
1. Identify Your Jericho
What’s the obstacle standing in front of you right now?
Maybe it’s fear. Addiction. Doubt. Grief. Loneliness. A difficult family situation. Health battle. Broken friendship. A season of uncertainty.
You can’t surrender something to God if you refuse to acknowledge it. Be honest about your Jericho.
2. Create a Prayer Plan
Joshua didn’t defeat Jericho through human strength alone. Victory came through obedience and dependence on God.
Prayer is where battles are won before circumstances ever change.
What would it look like to intentionally pray over your Jericho every day? Maybe it’s starting your morning with Scripture, praying with your spouse, journaling prayers, or setting aside a few quiet moments to trust God with what feels impossible.
Don’t stop praying just because the walls haven’t fallen yet.
3. Don’t Fight Alone
God never intended for us to carry our struggles alone.
Who are the people you can invite into your battle? Friends who will encourage you, pray for you, speak truth to you, and walk beside you when life feels heavy?
Sometimes God uses community to help bring down the walls we can’t overcome by ourselves.
Your Jericho may feel impossible today, but our God specializes in impossible situations.
The walls may be tall, but they are not stronger than Him.
Keep trusting, praying and walking in faith.
God is still in the business of bringing walls down.
